Short version: your pet lives on your Mac, and DeskPet only goes online to check for updates.
What stays on your Mac
Everything. Your pet, its needs, its memories and your settings are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/DeskPet and in DeskPet's preferences. There is no account, no sync, no analytics, no ads and no crash reporting. Notifications are local, and every sound is made on your Mac.
The one thing that goes online
Once a day, and when you choose Check for Updates, DeskPet asks GitHub whether there is a new version, and it downloads the update from GitHub if you install it. Like any web request, GitHub sees your IP address and the app's version, and GitHub's privacy statement applies. DeskPet sends nothing else.
What it looks at, and what it doesn't
So your pet can stand on your windows, DeskPet checks where windows are and which app they belong to. It never sees what's inside them. For greetings and guard mode it checks how long it's been since your last key press or click, never what you typed. None of this needs Screen Recording, Accessibility or any other special access; the only permission DeskPet asks for is to show notifications.
This website
No cookies, no analytics and no trackers. It's hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, and the download itself comes from GitHub.
